Bio

Megan Marsiglio is a multi-passionate entrepreneur, digestive health advocate, wife, and mama-to-be. Megan leads Bloomm Agency, a creative marketing and communications studio, and runs The Gut Gazette, a platform (online and offline) for digestive health.

The Gut Gazette's aim is to create more awareness and education around gut health, remove stigmas, and inspire self-advocacy.

Megan became passionately involved in the digestive health space after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2009 - and since then has been on a mission to remove the poo taboo.

About this episode

Diagnosed with Crohn’s at age 18, in her first year of university, after years of troubling digestive symptoms, Megan Marsiglio began an important journey towards educating herself and others about gut health. Within months of her diagnosis, she started ‘The Gut Gazette’, a blog chronicling her experience navigating her illness. Her blog has evolved into so much more.

She has become an educator, a patient advocate and even joined forces a Patient Outreach Partner with researchers at IMAGINE. IMAGINE is an ongoing multi-hospital study of the interactions between the inflammation, microbiome, diet and mental health in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Megan truly took the lemons life handed her and turned them into lemonade. She has been so supportive and encouraging since the launch of Mind Your Own and her journey has inspired me to think bigger!

This episode is for anyone who has personally been diagnosed with a chronic illness, anyone who is dealing with digestive issues, or anyone who needs inspiration on how to turn a difficult situation into something truly incredible.

We talk about:

  • You can turn your mess into your message

  • Your gut health is the gateway to your overall health; trust it!

  • Our individual paths to diagnosis can create trauma that needs healing, especially if you felt you weren’t seen or heard by medical professionals
