About The Atelier (by Ang & Taryn)

Our vision for The Atelier arose from an unofficial and unintentional brainstorming session in early summer 2017.

Friends for years, we’d always admired one another’s business successes, in the corporate world and as entrepreneurs, as well as our love for adventure and travel. While catching up over lunch that day, we launched onto the topic of personal development and how immensely important it is to the person as a whole – both in business and in life.

While we both reflected on some good experiences attending business conferences in the past, we realized there wasn’t anything out there that encompassed all of our main touch points – something that was experiential, content heavy and energetic. And something very important was missing: INSPIRATION.

That was our a-ha moment. We recognized there was a clear gap in the market, and we had the excitement and experience to create something special exceptional for our fellow entrepreneurs and business leaders. That fortuitous first conversation evolved into inspired action: energized coffee dates, exciting working sessions over lunch and strategy sessions in wine country. Our collective background of event planning experience, marketing skills, and business operations intersected to proudly create The Atelier.

About this episode

When I walked into the new event space at Ravine Vineyard in January 2020 to attend my very first Atelier event, I was floored. I had heard incredible things about the set up of previous events, but I could have never anticipated the thoughtful curation of the space. Ravine had been absolutely transformed into a female entrepreneur’s wonderland. Every detail from the vendors, giveaways and especially the speaker line-up was set to encourage each of us (400+ attendees) to step out of our comfort zones. After a day of networking and a major infusion of inspiration, I knew I had to learn more about the creators of this incredible event. Witnessing the founders of The Atelier in action at the event I attended and learning more about how they started this incredible collective as research for this podcast episode has really reminded me that anything is possible. Tune in to hear how a conversation between two friends over lunch parlayed into filling a major gap in the business event space for female founders and entrepreneurs.

We talk about:

  • Take time to be present when you reach a milestone- something you have worked so hard for can pass you by so quickly. Take a moment in the midst of it to celebrate!
  • Hiring your first employee can be one of the scariest- and BEST- steps you can take as an entrepreneur.
  • No response doesn’t mean ‘no’! Hold your vision and don’t be afraid to follow-up with those who you feel will support your business (or personal) growth – they’re probably just busy and will appreciate your tenacity.
